Disclaimer: Where’s Speedy? A True Turtle Tale is based on the true story from my recollection from having him as a part of our family. However, the names have been changed, and the thoughts and feelings of Speedy and the other animals have been fictionalized. At some points in his life, Speedy had non-toxic, water-based, paint on part of his shell. Later, I learned it is not recommended to put any paint on a turtle’s shell. Do not remove a wild turtle from their environment, and do not dump a domesticated turtle in the wild.
